Barcelona | project in progress | 1st prize competition 2022
The Frederic Marés Museum building is part of the medieval Palau Reial Major, next to the Barcelona Cathedral. The main interventions are made on the third floor, where the new offices and the restoration areas of the museum will be located. Work is also done on the semi-basement floor, which faces the old roman wall and where the new art storage areas and multipurpose spaces are located. In order to provide a global response, the vertical communications throughout the museum are reorganized with a new, clear and orderly core that brings the whole building up to date.
